Are you looking for an easy and healthy little treat to get you through your day? I have the solution! Easy healthy energy balls 3 ways! With few simple ingredients which most probably have at home and you will need just 10 min to prepare them! So let’s dive in.

The base

All the flavors of those easy healthy energy balls 3 ways have the same base. Just two simple ingredients, oats and dates, can create a delicious base tin which you can add all your add-ins so you create your own energy balls. It is that simple!

The dates should be pitted and soaked in warm water for 5 min. This is important so they soften up so it is easier to properly blend in your blender or food processor. In this recipe you can use either rolled oats or quick oats, whatever you have on hand should work.

Today we are making 3 of our favorite flavor combinations for energy balls. My personal favorite is the carrot cake ones as I love those dense flavors or cinnamon and clove. My husband is a coconut lover so his favorite is hands down the coconut raspberry ones. Panos tasted all of them and he couldn’t decide which one he liked the most. He asked for seconds to make sure which one he likes. I will take this as a compliment! Let’s dive in

Carrot cake
  • Carrots. Just wash and shred the carrot keeping the skin on for extra nutrients
  • Walnuts. If you dont like walnuts you can use any nuts that you like. Or if you want to keep those nut-free you can use seeds, such as pumpkin seeds or hemp.
  • Spices. You will need at least cinnamon and then it is optional (but recommended) to use clove and ginger.
Coconut Raspberry
  • Shredded coconut. I prefer to use the unsweetened type as I dont like refined sugars and also our energy balls are already sweet enough from the dates.
  • Freeze dried raspberries. Of course you can use any dried fruits that you want. I have done those with dried pineapples or strawberries and the taste is great.
Chocolate Almond
  • Raw cacao powder.
  • Almond butter. Of course you can use peanut butter for a traditional chocolate and peanut butter flavor. Or you can use any nut or seed butter of your choice.

How to store

You can store those easy and healthy energy balls three ways in an airtight container in your fridge for up to 3 days or you can even freeze them in a freezer bag for up to 3 months. I always have some on my freezer!

  • Chocolate Almond

  • 2/3 cup oats

  • 1 tbsp raw cacao powder

  • 1 tbsp almond butter

  • Carrot cake
  • 7 dates, pitted and soaked in water for 5 min (110 gr)

  • 2/3 cup oats

  • 2 tbsp shredded carrot (~ 1/2 medium sized carrot)

  • 2 tbsp walnuts

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • (Optional) Pinch of grounded ginger and grounded cloves

  • Coconut raspberry
  • 7 dates, pitted and soaked in water for 5 min (110 gr)

  • 2/3 cup oats

  • 1/4 cup shredded coconut

  • 1/4 cup dried raspberries


  • In a blender add all your ingredients for the flavor that you like and blend
  • The dough is soft, form small balls
  • Store in the fridge for at least 15 min
